Opposition Politicians Disrupt Parliamentary Meetings Twice With Tear Gas

Opposition politicians released tear gas on two separate occasions in parliament on March 10, in protest against the implementation of government deals made with Serbia and Montenegro. According to reports, the politicians have promised to continue the disruptions, which have been ongoing since October 2015, until the deals are ditched and the government is forced to resign.

Prishtina Insight reported that after parliamentary sessions were resumed for the second time, opposing politicians changed their tactics, instead choosing to point laser beams in the faces of the assembly presidency.

The latest disruptions came as Kosovans geared up for an anti-government protest on March 26, following on from from protests held in late February over the President-Elect Hashim Thaci’s presidential candidacy. His bid for president last month was met with criticism due to reported accusations of nepotism and corruption – accusations he denies. Credit: YouTube/arbresh.info
