People Queue to Buy New Charlie Hebdo Issue
People queued outside shops in France on the morning of Wednesday, January 14, for a chance to buy a copy of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. It was the magazine’s first issue since gunmen with reported links to Islamic militant organisations killed 12 people at the magazine’s offices on January 7.
The new issue depicts a teary-eyed Prophet Muhammad holding a sign that reads “Je Suis Charlie,” the solidarity slogan that emerged on social media following the attack.
The drawing is captioned with the French phrase “Tous Est Pardonné,” which translates in English to “all is forgiven.” The magazine’s staff have been working at the offices of Libération, a French newspaper. Credit: Instagram/Franziska Rudolph
