Real Life Bambi: Orphaned Baby Deer Befriends Bird

After hunters killed her mother, an orphaned fawn was taken into the care of a wildlife rescuer and became good friends with a bird. Faline, named after Bambi’s best friend, was rescued from Berkshire Park in Sydney’s west in December 2015. She was taken into the care of Jess and she quickly became friends with a crested pigeon who groomed her and rode on her back as Faline went exploring around the house.

Jess said Faline couldn’t be released into the wild because deer are an introduced species in Australia. She is now living in a permanent carer’s home. Credit: Jess
