Royal Navy Destroys Huge German World War II Mine
In an operation on November 27, a Royal Navy bomb disposal team detonated a German mine that was found in the Solent, a strait separating the Isle of Wight from the English mainland. The mine weighed 1,500lb (680kg), according to the navy, and was found by a crane barge that was dredging in the strait, a local report said. The device, dating from World War II, was towed to open water before it was detonated. Credit: YouTube/Royal Navy
