Seattle Court Grants Restraining Order on Trump's Immigration Ban

A federal court in Seattle, Washington State, on February 3 issued a temporary restraining order on an US President Donald Trump’s ban on travel to the US from seven Muslim-majority countries.

District judge James Robart made the ruling following emergency motions from the states of Washington and Minnesota.

In response to the order, the White House issued a statement in which it said, “at the earliest possible time, the Department of Justice intends to file an emergency stay of this order and defend the executive order of the President, which we believe is lawful and appropriate.”
