Standing Rock Activists Continue Protesting at Backwater Bridge Barricade
Despite harsh winter conditions, anti-Dakota Access Pipeline activists continued their protest against the pipeline’s construction in North Dakota on December 27 with songs and chants at the Backwater Bridge barricade.
Even after the news that the Army Corps of Engineers denied a key easement for the pipeline on December 5, Sioux water protectors and a handful of US military veterans decided to stay at Standing Rock to continue protesting. “The fight isn’t over yet,” the uploader said in a message to Storyful. Dwindling supplies and very harsh winter weather conditions have made life difficult for those who have chosen to stay.
