Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk Announces His Resignation

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced his resignation during his weekly address on April 10, saying his request would be submitted to parliament on April 12. In a full statement posted to Facebook with an English translation, Yatsenyuk said President Petro Poroshenko’s bloc had nominated Speaker Volodymyr Groysman for the role, and that his own party, People’s Front, would remain in the coalition.

In his statement Yatsenyuk said Ukraine’s political crisis was “created artificially,” and that a “desire to change one person blinded politicians and paralyzed their political will for real change.”

“The process of changing the Government turned into a mindless running in place,” he wrote.
