Water Gushes Into Queens Neighborhood When Main Breaks

A water main break was responsible for flooding a Queens neighborhood in New York City on October 23. Video from the scene showed water flowing through Queens Boulevard in the vicinity of Broadway. The break took place at a construction site, and nearby buildings reported flooding, according to NBC New York. The first floors of the nearby commercial buildings were evacuated, and residents were told to stay inside their homes.

Water gushed from the water main for hours after the incident, which occurred before 9 am, pouring thousands of gallons of water into the streets. By noon the water had slowed to a trickle. Credit: Instagram/redclaud
