Women's March Organizers Arrested at NYC Protest

Thirteen people were arrested during a Day Without A Woman march in New York City on Wednesday, March 8, including the organizers of the Women’s March on Washington. The Women’s March organization helped organize the Day Without a Woman strike.

Hundreds of people gathered outside Trump International Hotel and Tower near Columbus Circle as part of the series of protests across the country, which were organized for International Woman Day. Women were encouraged to skip work, not buy things and wear red as part of the protest.

The Women’s March tweeted a photo of their organizers sitting in a NYPD van after being arrested. Social media posts indicated women were blocking traffic when they were arrested.

A second protest was planned in New York in Washington Square Park later in the afternoon. Other protests were planned across the country, including Washington, Philadelphia and San Francisco.
