BRAD SMITH: Retail giant Walmart announces a potential offer to acquire the outstanding shares that it does not already own in South African retailer Massmart. Now, Walmart, they look to acquire all of the outstanding shares for a price of 62 rands, nearly $3.66 per share, the offer representing a 53% premium to the closing share price on August 26. The Massmart independent board noting it's unanimous in its preliminary decision here and that the terms and conditions of the potential offer are fair and reasonable.
Disney secures Indian TV and digital rights for the next four years to both men's and women's global events conducted by the International Cricket Council. The ICC stating Disney's star won following a single-round sealed bid process which has yielded a significant uplift to the rights fee from the previous cycle. However, the ICC not disclosing a value to the deal. This comes as a win for Disney after the media giant lost out on digital rights to the Indian Premier League tournament.
And Rory McIlroy rallied from 6 shots, behind beating out Scottie Scheffler to go on and win the 2022 TOUR Championship with a total score of 263. Now, McIlroy secures the FedEx Cup for the third time, becoming the first player to do so. For his victory, McIlroy is looking at a whopping $18 million payout.
And inflation is hitting Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte, as the beloved fall beverage is coming in hot with a hefty new price tag. The Grande sized hot Pumpkin Spice Latte costing customers between $5.45 to $5.95, depending upon your Starbucks location, a roughly 4% increase compared to 2021.
Now, this comes amid a broader price hike as a result of inflationary pressures, with several food and beverage chains increasing menu prices gradually over the past year. That just means some of our pals' PSLs are going to cost just a little more.
