族語復振 電遊開發者推出毛利語版本

【陳中寬/花嘉忻 編譯】 2018-07-11 紐西蘭北島的Waikato Tainui部落，有20位族人一起來上課，學習部落的口語文化傳統跟規範，希望為人數愈來愈少的傳統口述者，添加新的生力軍。 (課程講師 Rahui Papa, Maori族: sinsi Rahui Papa Maori We want to revive the language and oratory,(我們希望復振語言與口語傳統)，so that our orators' benches(讓口述者的長椅)，may echo vibrantly once more.(可以再次聽到響亮的聲音迴盪)。) Waikato Tainui的居民相當重視傳統，調查顯示部落中31%的毛利族人，至少有基本的毛利語程度。 但是他們不因此感到滿足，於是推動了一個完整的族語復振計畫，叫做Te Pae Kaka，口傳文化課程，就是這個計劃的一部份。而且這個計畫完全是由部落出資執行，沒有政府預算。 (課程講師 Rahui Papa, Maori族: sinsi Rahui Papa Maori If the government contribute even a cent(如果政府資助這個計畫)，to this initiative,(即使只是一分錢)，they'll think that they are in charge(他們也會自以為是老大)。) (課程講師 Pania Papa, Maori族: sinsi Pania Papa Maori Tribes must be empowered(部落必須被賦予權力)，to strengthen their people,(讓人民力量更強)，that to me is the way to autonomy and sovereignty.(我認為這才是自治與主權之路)。) 學員表示，Te Pae Kaka計畫，重點不只是語言的復振，也是要讓當地的文化，可以傳承下一代，並且發揚光大。 (課程學員 Tiare Teinakore, Maori族: itulutulu Tiare Teinakore Maori I'm here to learn knowledge passed down,(我是來學習傳承下來的知識)，the incantations, songs,(包括咒語，音樂，)things that may not be known by Ngāti Hāua.(這些事情是其他部落不知道的)，Whether we live an hour, half an hour, or two hours apart,(我們住處相隔半小時 一小時，兩小時)，our protocols vary.(都會有不同的規範)。) 課程講師也說，讓口傳文化重新興盛起來，也是強化部落特色的方式。 (課程講師 Rahui Papa, Maori族: sinsi Rahui Papa Maori The desire is to reconsolidate the dialects of Tainui,(我們希望重新融合Tainui的方言)，when we stand to speak on the marae,(這樣我們在聚會所起身說話時)，people will know this person is Tainui.(大家都知道 他是從Tainui來的)。) 族語的復振，除了固有文化的傳承，也需要新的活水注入。 兩位紐西蘭工程師與設計師，一起開發了機器人格鬥電腦遊戲Grabity，他們決定，遊戲也要有毛利語版本，讓成長在毛利語環境中的孩子，也能享受遊戲。 遊戲翻譯者表示，將遊戲翻譯成毛利語，是非常重大的責任，另外也是不小的挑戰。 (遊戲譯者 Jack Potaka, Maori族 na semanaya ta 'a'ivangavangan Jack Potaka, Maori There are many words that cannot be located in the Maori dictionary(遊戲中很多字 在毛利字典找不到)，and so for me and fellow translator Te Whainoa,(所以我和另一位譯者 Te Whainoa)，we had to think up new words for it(必須發明新的字詞)。) Grabity遊戲，現在已經在Steam數位遊戲平台上線，遊戲譯者表示，希望未來還能有更多遊戲，翻譯成毛利語。 (遊戲譯者 Jack Potaka, Maori族 na semanaya ta 'a'ivangavangan Jack Potaka, Maori It's a big honour to do this work(參與這個工作，是很大的榮幸)，because this is such an extraordinary opportunity(因為這是一個非凡的機會)，to translate something that has such significance(可以翻譯一個 在科技時代)，in this day and age of technology(如此重要的一種創作)。) 從傳統的口傳文化，到現代的電腦遊戲，紐西蘭的語言復振行動不是政策口號，而是民眾的實際行動。 [原民台新聞影音報導]
