The Marines PFT requirement for this semi-annual period is cancelled in accordance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines. It's not immediately clear how the change will play into Marines' promotions, which typically factor their fitness test scores. Many Marines have likely already completed the test requirement since PFT season started Jan. 1.

Officials did not immediately respond to questions about whether scores for those Marines who completed the test will still be considered or if they'll be waived for everyone.

The Marines' PFT season is followed immediately by a six-month period of combat fitness tests (CFT). It remains to be seen whether that test, which requires Marines to drag and carry a comrade, will also be canceled.
