Aerial View Shows Massive Flooding Around Destroyed Ukraine Dam
Ukraine’s state border service on Thursday released new aerial footage of the ruined Nova Kakhovka dam in Kherson Oblast, and flooded communities on both sides of the Dnipro River.
Citing the interior ministry, state broadcast Suspilne News reported on Thursday that 1,800 houses on the right bank had flooded, and 1,900 people had been evacuated. The numbers are less clear on the left bank, which is under Russian control, but has been described as worse-affected by Kherson’s governor.
Ukraine’s energy agency Energoatom said the water level in the cooling pond upstream at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant remained stable and was enough to meet the plant’s needs.
