Aerial View Shows Power Outage in Coquimbo Following Chile Earthquake

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 struck the central and northern regions of Chile shortly before 9 pm local time on Wednesday, September 6, according to the National Seismological Center of the University of Chile (CSN).

The CSN said that the epicenter was 11 km (6.8 miles) southeast of Tongoy, approximately 430 km north of the capital, Santiago.

After the earthquake, power outages were experienced in several areas. The most affected areas were the city of Coquimbo, with 48,575 customers without service, followed by the city of La Serena, where 30,738 consumers were affected, according to local news.
