Baby sloth cared for by staff at U.S. zoo

Video and photos shared by the zoo show the yet-to-be named baby being held and fed by the animal care staff on May 26.

According to the zoo, the little one is receiving specialised care after its mother Tango wasn’t interested in looking after the baby sloth.

The newborn is bottle-fed goat’s milk around the clock and has been given a variety of stuffed animals that it can hold, since sloths at this age would typically cling to their mothers, the zoo said in an emailed statement.

The sex of the sloth is yet to be determined since it will require a laboratory test, the zoo said.
