Bomb Cyclone Waves Damage Bridge and Sidewalk in Santa Cruz
Powerful waves washed away pieces of a bridge and sidewalk on a cliffside in Santa Cruz, California, on Saturday, January 7, after a bomb cyclone “battered” the west coast, according to the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere.
The National Weather Service reported that a “relentless parade of cyclones from the Pacific” brought flooding and rain to the region.
Video posted by Dustin Mulvaney on Saturday shows damage caused by swells as waves continued to crash in Santa Cruz.
Police said that the “recent weather event has brought high tides and waves” to the area and warned people to watch out for “rogue waves and debris.” Credit: Dustin Mulvaney via Storyful
