DAVE BRIGGS: Coming up, look at what's on tap for next week. Boy, will it be a busy week for the economy with all eyes on Jerome Powell. But first, early in the week, we'll get another glimpse at housing with home builders' sentiment on Monday, housing permits and starts data on Tuesday. It's all been very bleak in recent months.
But Wednesday, the big one. We'll start with the existing home sales in the morning. All eyes on the afternoon when we'll get the Fed decision on interest rates, 2:30 Eastern time, press conference from Jerome Powell. Most think we'll see a 75-point basis hike. But still some feel we could get the full 100. And afterwards, the Fed chair will take questions from the press.
On Thursday, we'll get a weekly jobless claims number, and also some insight on the consumer and restaurants when Darden releases its first quarter earnings before the bell. We wrap up the week Friday with manufacturing and services PMI.
