Fort Wainwright Firefighters Show the Dangers of Frying a Turkey Improperly

Firefighters from the Fort Wainwright military base in Alaska have released a video showing the improper way to fry a turkey this Thanksgiving.

This footage shows the firefighters raising a turkey on a hook, dunking it into a bubbling, fiery pot and stepping back to avoid the ensuing burst of flame. A slow-motion segment can be seen about 27 seconds into the footage.

“Thanksgiving is the peak day for our business and what we do,” says Michael Bryant, Fort Wainwright’s fire inspector.
