Funnel Cloud Seen Near DeLand Highway as 'Likely Tornado' Hits Region

A large funnel cloud was seen in DeLand, Florida, on August 18 as a possible tornado caused widespread damage in the region.

The National Weather Service tweeted that it would be sending a team to DeLand to survey the wreckage from “a likely tornado.” Footage from the region showed downed trees and upturned cars from the storm.

Earlier, the weather service said a strong thunderstorm was moving over DeLand producing winds of speeds up to 55 mph as well as torrential rain and lightning.
