Gas Leak Causes Fire Outside Texas Gas Station, Prompts Evacuations
Residents in an area of Grand Prairie, Texas, were temporarily evacuated on Saturday, April 18, as firefighters responded to a natural gas leak that caused a fire next to a gas station.
The gas leak occurred next to an Exxon gas station at Mayfield Road and State Highway 360 shortly after noon.
Firefighters evacuated between 100 and 150 residents, and some local businesses, according to reports. Grand Prairie Assistant Fire Chief Bill Murphy told local media that something ignited and lit up the gas leak.
