Grab-Singtel consortium launches GXS Bank, Singapore's first digital bank

GXS Bank, backed by Grab and Singtel, on 31 August unveiled its savings account product as it claimed the position of Singapore's first digital bank for consumers and businesses.

CHARLES WONG: We have a very good ecosystem across Grab and Singtel. Collectively, this ecosystem has more than 3 million customers. That, I think, it's one big advantage that we have. That allows us to acquire customers and have access to customers.

We aren't definitely hiring, but we're hiring selectively. I think now that we have the core base of banking, we also want to look at how can we then add on to our bench strength, as well as the talent that we have in the bank, which is very critical for us.

Right now, we are very much focused on building up the team and laying a solid foundation for Malaysia. And that is what we are focusing on since it's still early days for us.
