Hindus mark Rang Panchami festival in India
STORY: Revelers crowded the streets, danced, and covered each other in colored water and powder as they took part in processions and festivities.
In Ujjain, a special prayer ceremony was held at Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple and color was offered to the Hindu god of destruction, Shiva, before devotees and priests daubed in colors on the occasion.
Rangpanchmi - 'Rang' means color and 'Panchami' means the fifth day during a lunar fortnight - is observed five days after the festival of colors, Holi, which heralds the arrival of spring.
