More Than 10,000 People Evacuated Due to Fires Burning in Southwest France
Two fires burning in the Gironde region of France have caused more than 10,500 people to evacuate, burned 4,700 hectares (18 square miles) of land, and engaged 1,000 firefighters, according to The Department of Gironde.
This footage posted to Twitter on Wednesday, July 13, shows smoke rising from the fires as beachgoers watch from a distance.
Other European countries, including Portugal and Spain, are also fighting wildfires as temperatures soar.
