Nigerian soccer joins video game big league
STORY: This computer game lets fans play as Nigerian soccer players
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
‘Vikseen Virtual’ features 50 clubs and over 1,400 players
from Nigeria’s top leagues
It was created by sports fan and computer coder, Victor Daniyan
(Vikseen Virtual founder, Victor Daniyan) ‘’I told somebody that one day we can even see ourselves in a video game, one of the players, and he said it is not possible, maybe in 2030 something or 2050 something, that in Nigeria it is not possible and that just reignited the spirit and I’m like okay, it is possible, then I went back to my project, I saw it there and I continued.’’
Since its launch in May 2022
the game has already won plaudits on the pitch and on the sofa
(Ikorodu City FC, Harrison Austin) ‘’I know each game that is being played, each player will be rated. But me advancing to the NPFL, probably my rating will be advanced will climb, so it will help me to do more to move out from here, so I will be spotted in another team.’’
Daniyan is working on the next phase of the game
which will introduce teams from across the continent
and include African music and commentators
