NOAA Satellite Captures Flag Fire Smoke Over Arizona
Satellite imagery showing wildfire smoke moving across Arizona was released on Tuesday, April 27, as firefighters continued to battle the Flag Fire.
NOAA Satellite and Information Service said its GOES West satellite captured smoke and heat emitted from the Flag Fire as it burned across parts of northwestern Arizona on Sunday.
The Flag Fire was reported on Sunday afternoon and has been burning in the Hualapai Mountains, fire officials said.
On Tuesday, firefighters took advantage of increased humidity and a light snow that dusted elevated areas of the fire. Officials said the improved conditions allowed firefighters to “take a more direct attack on the fire – building containment lines ahead of warming and drying weather conditions predicted in the coming days.” Credit: NOAA via Storyful
