'Police Are Just Letting Them Do It': Looters Smash Windows in Downtown Chicago

Police were videotaped arguing amongst themselves in downtown Chicago as looters targeted the city’s Magnificent Mile shopping district in the early morning hours of August 10, local media reported.

This video shows police responding as looters attack glass storefronts.

Anti-police-brutality protests escalated overnight August 9 to 10, following the police shooting of an Englewood man, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown told local media during a press conference.

More than 100 people were arrested and 13 police officers were injured in the unrest, reports said.

Micah Berkley captured the video and shared it on his Twitter page. At one point in the video, he says, “I feel like the police are just letting them do it.”
