Police Patrol Huntington Beach as Orange County Beaches Remain Closed

Police patrolled Huntington Beach on Saturday, May 2, as Orange County beaches remained closed to the public as part of restrictions aimed to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

The Huntington Beach Police Department shared this footage one day after demonstrators filled the streets on Friday to protest California Governor Gavin Newsom’s order to close the county’s beaches.

Local media reported that the governor ordered the closures after crowds flocked to Newport and Huntington Beaches the previous weekend during a heatwave.
