Portland Police Declare Riot as Protests Flare in Wake of Breonna Taylor Decision
Portland Police declared a riot on September 23 outside the Justice Center and Central Police Precinct as at least one Molotov cocktail was thrown at officers and a part of a building set on fire.
Video here shows police ordering the crowd to disperse. According to Oregon Live, federal officers were involved on the night.
Protests in the city flared in the wake of a grand jury decision on prosecutions in the police shooting of Louisville woman Breonna Taylor. A former officer, Brett Hankison, was charged with wanton endangerment. Two other officers who discharged their weapons during a botched raid on Taylor’s apartment were not charged.
