Rare White Grizzly Bear Spotted Roaming Canadian Rockies

An Alberta photographer captured a locally famous white grizzly bear strolling feet away from his cabin while visiting Yoho National Park in British Columbia on May 30.

Video taken by Noel Rogers shows the bear, known to locals as Nakoda, walking across a snowy field at the foot of a mountain near Lake O’Hara.

Rogers said that he was sitting at a picnic table when he spotted Nakoda quietly staring at him from about 30 feet away.

“She startled me, and at first I thought she was a mountain goat because of the off-white coloring,” Rogers said in the video’s caption. “Then she moved her head, gave a few sniffs, and continued along the trail,” he added. Credit: Noel Rogers via Storyful
