Remote-Controlled Tiny Robotic Crab Is Smallest Ever Made, University Says

Engineers at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, said on May 25 they have developed “the smallest-ever remote-controlled walking robot” in the form of a tiny crab.

The crab robot measures just half a millimeter in width and can “bend, twist, crawl, walk, turn, and jump,” according to the university.

Northwestern said that although their research remains exploratory for the time being, their researchers believe the technology could be used to perform practical tasks in tightly confined spaces.
