Russian couple makes furniture from old boats

This Russian couple revamp old Indonesian boats

into tropical wardrobes and cupboards

Location: Moscow, Russia

Yan and Ekaterina Averkiev were inspired when travelling

and launched ‘LikeLodka’ in 2013

They use weathered boats that are 30 to 50 years old

gathered at various Indonesian islands

DESIGNER, EKATERINA AVERKIYEVA, SAYING: "It is not only weathered. It is also rare wood of teak and mahogany. When you look at some old wood boards from where we live, say a pine board, it may not be that well-preserved inside. But if you take an old teak board and cut it, you will see that it’s brand new inside."
