SpaceX 'Starman' Flies by Earth in Tesla Roadster
The most powerful rocket since Saturn V launched Apollo astronauts to the moon took off from Cape Canaveral on Tuesday, February 6 – using the same launch pad at Kennedy Space Center as the moon missions.
The SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket didn’t carry a paid cargo since it was a test flight, so SpaceX founder Elon Musk launched his Tesla sports car into space, along with an astronaut “driver” dubbed Starman in the driver’s seat. The roadster will eventually be put in orbit around the sun, and for now, SpaceX is streaming live from the cameras. Credit: SpaceX via Storyful
