Ukraine tears down monument to 'Soviet liberators'
STORY: Local authorities had inspected the monument - erected to mark the Soviet victory over the Nazis in WW2 - and declared it to be in 'critical condition.'
On the site of the dismantled Soviet monument, the regional governor said he planned to erect a monument or memorial in honour of the Transcarpathian mountain stormtroopers of the 128th mountain assault brigade, which is currently fighting in south Ukraine against Russian troops.
