Bogota Residents Gather in Solidarity With Chapecoense
Residents of Bogota, Colombia, gathered on the evening of Tuesday, November 29, to pay tribute to players from Brazilian football club Chapecoense killed in a plane crash near Medellin.
The city’s Torre Colpatria, a 50-storey skyscraper, was illuminated in the team’s colors. Football fans around the world held tributes on Tuesday for the footballers from Brazil’s Serie A league.
Three Chapecoense footballers and three other passengers survived the plane crash near Medellin, Colombia, late on Monday, that killed 71 people people. Chapecoense was scheduled to play against Colombia’s Atletico Nacional at the Copa Sudamericana finals on Wednesday. Atletico Nacional asked CONMEBOL, the South American Football Confederation, to award the Brazilian team the trophy.
