Dramatic Crash at Dakar Rally Leaves Matt Campbell in Hospital

The 2015 Dakar Rally in Bolivia hit a hazardous patch on Saturday, January 10 with two separate wrecks on the same stretch of the course. Argentine driver Juan Manuel “Pato” Silva and Juan Pablo Sisterna first flipped their car after hitting a dip in the road. Spectators were still gathered around the wrecked Mercedes Benz when the El Martillo Racing car flipped on the same corner bursting into flames as it tumbled over the grassland.

El Martillo Racing said driver Matt Campbell, navigator Nicolas Ambriz and second driver Luis “Fito” Ramirez escaped the crash with scrapes and bruises. According to reports, Campbell was released from hospital on January 13.
