Drone Footage Shows Sacramento Area Flooding
Seven floodgates at the Sacramento Weir in California were opened on Tuesday, January 10, for the first time in 11 years.
The gates were opened to alleviate flooding concerns along the Sacramento River system due to recent heavy rains, according to a report. More gates could open in the coming days, and it’s the first time the gates have been opened since December 2005.
One of the factors could be the water released at Nimbus Dam to alleviate high levels at Folsom Lake, which can be seen in part in this video. The weir also can be seen in this video. Credit: YouTube/Cal OES via Storyful
