Southern Thais Navigate Through Floodwaters

Severe flooding continued to hit southern Thailand on Friday, January 6, following last week’s torrential rain. The islands of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, popular with tourists, were also affected.

Local residents were evacuated from their flooded homes, while overflowing main canals in Nakhon Si Thammarat swamped majors roads on Friday, the Bangkok Post reported. Bus and rail services in the region were disrupted while several schools were closed. Forecasters expect rain to ease off on Saturday.
