Marylanders have shown up in record numbers over the past week for early voting in an election that could generate more write-in votes than ever before, and because of the new paper ballots, officials are still working out how to count those votes. Maryland is one of 42 states where write-in votes are tallied. Election officials said it adds to the timeline for determining election results, but that having choices is what democracy is all about.
