New Zealand Prime Minister Surveys Earthquake Damage in Kaikoura
New Zealand Prime Minister John Key on Monday travelled to Kaikoura, one of the South Island towns worst-affected by a deadly earthquake, to assess the extent of the damage.
A magnitude-7.4 earthquake struck in the early hours of Monday morning around 60 miles northeast of Christchurch. At least two people were killed with damage from the initial earthquake and aftershocks reported as far away as Wellington. Key said roads in Kaikoura were badly damaged and promised aid in terms of food, water and manpower. The prime minister also said rebuilding the infrastructure in the coastal town will cost billions of dollars. Credit: YouTube/NZNats via Storyful
