Yellowstone National Park Geyser Erupts After 6 Years of Dormancy
Yellowstone National Park said one of its large geysers erupted after six and a half years of dormancy on August 25.
The Giantess Geyser, which is located in Wyoming, historically erupted two to six times per year, according to the National Park Service. An eruption can cause the surrounding area to shake from underground steam explosions just before the initial eruptions, the park service website says.
