How to delete TikTok. YF explains

TikTok is the hottest social network around, but it’s also got plenty of detractors ranging from lawmakers to the U.S. military. And with a potential ban on the horizon, you might be wondering if you should just kick your TikTok habit now rather than going cold turkey later. But doing that will require more than just deleting the app from your phone. If you really want to give up TikTok, you’ll have to delete your account as well.

Thankfully, it’s a relatively painless process, though the platform, like other social media companies, will certainly try to get you to stick around. To finally kick your TikTok habit, you’ll first want to go to your profile page by tapping the Profile button in the bottom right corner of the home screen. Select the options menu, by pressing the hamburger button in the top right of the screen, and tap Settings and Privacy in the pop-up window. Next press Account, then select Deactivate or Delete Account, and pick Delete account permanently.

From there you can choose to download your old TikTok videos to save them offline, or you can just kiss them all goodbye by tapping the confirm button at the bottom of the screen.

DAN HOWLEY: TikTok is the hottest social media network around. But it also has plenty of detractors ranging from the US military to lawmakers. And with the potential ban on the horizon, you might be asking yourself whether you should try to kick your TikTok habit now rather than having to go cold turkey later. But doing that will require more than just leading the app from your phone. If you really want to give up TikTok, you're going to have to delete your account as well.

Thankfully, there's a relatively painless process to do so. Although the company like other social media networks really does try to get you to stick around. To delete your account, you'll have to go to the main homepage then your profile by tapping-- well, the profile button at the bottom right of the screen.

Select the options menu by tapping the hamburger button or those three horizontal lines in the top right corner of the screen, and then selecting settings and privacy from the pop up window. Next to select account then deactivate or delete account. And finally, delete account permanently.

All of your videos are going to be deleted when you delete your TikTok account, so the company gives you an option to download your old TikToks. If you don't want to do that though, press continue. Finally, you'll reach the confirmation page. Here TikTok will explain that they hold on to your data for the next 30 days, and then if you decide to come back, you can just reactivate your account. After that 30 days though, everything's gone. Press continue and your TikTok account should be gone.
