Emergency Vehicles Cross Temporarily Repaired Sanibel Causeway as Florida Recovery Continues

Florida Gov Ron DeSantis announced on Tuesday, October 11, that temporary repairs to the Sanibel Causeway allowed a onetime convoy of electrical workers and other restoration crews to access Sanibel Island.

DeSantis said the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is working to restore access to the island for residents by the end of this month.

The Sanibel Causeway was partially wiped out after Hurricane Ian ripped through Florida in September.
