La Palma Volcano's Lava Flow Engulfs Road in Industrial Park

Lava from the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Canary Island of La Palma engulfed a road at an industrial park on October 9, almost three weeks after its initial eruption.

This footage was released by the Canary Islands Volcanology Institute (Involcan) and shows the flow blocking the road.

Some 1,186 buildings have been destroyed by the volcano since it began erupting on September 19, according to the Canary Islands Volcanology Institute. Credit: INVOLCAN via Storyful
