Moose Fire Engulfs 64,000 Acres in Central Idaho

The Moose fire just north of Salmon, Idaho, continued to blaze through “very steep, hazardous terrain” that was difficult for firefighters to access, as seen in footage from Wednesday, August 3.

More than 1,000 personnel have been assigned to tackle the wildfire, which has grown to over 64,078 acres (100 square miles) as of Thursday morning, according to officials.

The blaze was 20 percent contained as of Thursday morning, more than two weeks after it started. Officials said that they will be able to fully contain the fire sometime around August 30. Credit: NWS IMET Operations via Storyful
