Fighters Raise Iraqi Flag Over Recaptured Government Building in Mosul

Iraqi forces were reported on March 7 to have made substantial gains against Islamic State in west Mosul.

Local and international reports said they had regained the city’s main government building, a central bank branch and a museum where artifacts were damaged during the IS occupation.

This footage was shared by the Telafar Brigade, a militia which has been fighting Islamic State in the Mosul area. The video shows soldiers having taken down an IS flag and raising the Iraqi flag on the roof of the local government building. Credit: Telafar Brigade via Storyful
