Muslim Groups Plan to Register a Million Voters Ahead of 2016 Election

A coalition of Muslim organizations in the United States announced a plan to register more than one million voters ahead of the 2016 presidential election. The US Council of Muslim Organizations said they would also run an education campaign and a “National Open Mosque Day” designed to help increase interactions between American Muslims and citizens of other faiths and backgrounds.

The plans were announced in Washington on Monday, December 21, after a day-long summit in Virginia on Sunday that was attended by more than 100 national and regional American Muslim leaders. The summit was held in response to anti-Muslim rhetoric following the Paris and San Bernardino attacks. Credit: CAIR
