Roads Remain Hazardous After Bismarck Blizzard

Highways re-opened around Bismarck, North Dakota, on Tuesday, January 27, following a blizzard, though travel conditions remained hazardous. Travel advisories remained in place for much of the region.

The piles of snow on the sides of the road were higher than some vehicles in spots, which can be seen in this video. Bismarck’s snow total from the blizzard stood at 12.5 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Areas north of the city received nearly two feet of snow.

The NWS warned high winds could cause blowing snow on Wednesday, creating hazardous driving conditions. Credit: Instagram/Renee Stromme via Storyful
