Smoke From Ventura Wildfire Seen From Miles Away
A wildfire in Ventura, California, stood at 1,200 acres on Saturday, December 26, forcing people from their homes. Ventura County Fire Department reported the fire was fueled by a northwest wind, but the wind pattern was shifting and could change how the fire spreads. Mandatory evacuations were in place in the Solimar Beach area with voluntary beach evacuations spreading further away.
The fire stood at 10 percent contained, and more than 600 firefighters were on the scene. Highway 101 was closed for a time in both directions in the vicinity.
