Storm Covers Bronx Streets in Ice

Freezing rain in the New York City region created slippery roads, triggering numerous car crashes, on January 18. This footage shows New York City firefighters sliding on the ice while responding to an incident in the Bronx. The weather closed several area bridges and tunnels and also closed the New York State Thruway southbound from Newburgh to New York City, according to local media.
