VW accelerates shift to electric cars
Volkswagen is accelerating its shift to electric cars.
The brand now expects fully electric vehicles to make up more than 70% of its sales in Europe by 2030.
That's up from an earlier target of 35%.
In China and the U.S. it sees EVs taking half of the market by the same date.
Now VW is taking aim at rivals including Tesla, with a view to becoming the leader in electric vehicle production.
Brand boss Ralf Brandstaetter says the world's second-biggest carmaker is well placed to win the electric race.
He says VW is ahead of rivals in taking big steps towards a digital transformation of its business and products.
